Doing something different

It looks as though trying new foods with Owen, really isn't going to work. I mean I can keep trying and he can just keep throwing up. This week I have emailed Owen's teacher and his special ed teacher to find out what is going on with school. I asked Owen the other day if he was taking breaks any more and he said he wasn't.. So what does that mean. I emailed the teachers and it sounds as though they now have a trampoline outside of his classroom, so when Owen is a little loopy, he can go right outside and jump around and then come right back. Well once again I asked questions like "Why? Does this mean you are weaning him away?? What changed?? " Well after some talk I don't think I got all my answers, but we are all meeting in May so I will ask them then. Through these emails we got talking about Owens eating habits. The OT recommended us to a clinic to help work with Owen on trying new foods. That was great, and I found out my insurance covers it, but what pissed me off (and it is just me) is that she kept referring to me "MAKING" him try new foods. She said by doing that things could really back fire. So I gave up. I called this place that isn't too far from us and found out that they can help us and that our insurance does cover it. She is sending me some info on the whole thing. I guess we have a 7 day diet that we have to go through. This should really be interesting.. But all I can hope for is that Owen will start eating different foods. I have to admit, it was pretty funny talking to her because everything I said to her made sense.. Who knows.. by the end of the year, Owen may have more foods that he really likes??

My Final Project

This cake class was so much fun.. I just can't wait until course two starts (May 5th). I am trying to come up with a design for my birthday cake. I made some of the swilr flowers last night and had so much fun with the colors. But Ryan said that he likes the roses better.. So I think I am going to do both. I think I am going to make a Red Velvet cake (because I have the mix already) with the cream chees frosting (I am just going to buy that) and then decorate the rest with a few roses, swirl flowers and possibly some dots. I saw this design in my book and thought I could do something very similar.

7 Years

Well today is Ryan and I 7th Anniversary. This time seven years ago we were downtown Minneapolis having some drinks with friends, while Keith and Linda stayed at our apartment watching Owen. You know every year I think about how everything went down. Getting married wasn't easy for us and staying married hasn't come easy to us.. But somehow we have defeated it. We made everything work. What an awesome feeling.
This weekend my parents took the boys for the weekend. Friday night we went downtown Shakopee and had a couple of drinks. On Saturday it was Ryan's day. He was supposed to decide what we were going to do. I had no idea what we were going to do. We spent the day in uptown and downtown Minneapolis. I don't think Ryan planned it this way, but for me it was kinda going back in time, like where we met type thing. We saw a movie and went out for lunch. After that we went home and Ryan had a fire. It was an awesome day.

He is getting bigger

Well today was a big day for me. We offically had to move to the young men 8-20 sizes at Kohls. Owen has hit another growth spurt I think. I just bought him ome new jeans, not to long ago, and I am noticing that they are starting to look too short for him. But he is offically a size 8 in pants. They are a little big, but 7s are not really fitting in the waist anymore. Owen is now all for trying on his clothes in the fitting room. It just makes him feel so cool. He really takes forever in there.. I think he is checking himself out in the mirror the whole time.. NOT JOKING. When he rides in the car with me and sits in front, all he wants to do is look at himself in the mirror.. What sucks about shopping in the young mens section.. I can't really match Owen and Logan anymore.. :) Oh well..

I do a lot of thinking in the bathroom

I really do.. and the really wierd thing about that is sometimes its funny and sometimes I get some great ideas. I usually only get my great ideas in the shower, my funny moments are when I'm cleaning the bathroom. So tonight I decided to get a jump start on my cleaning. Ryan was over at Adam and Kristina's house and the boys were in bed. I knew I had a lot ahead of me (cleaning the bathroom) because Owen is in this stage where he needs to pay more attention to what is really going on. Now I grew up with three brothers.. This is not new territory for me. However, I do not know how to talk to Owen about "getting a grip" on things.. If ya know what I mean.. :) Anyways, here I am scrubing the floor behind the toilet!! First thinking about my mom having to do this many times and then remembering that we had carpet (GROSS!). Then for some reason I start thinking about Facebook and how I became a fan of God and Jesus (two people (Linda will get that one)) and I thought "Did Mary have to put up with this kind of stuff"?? Was Mary scrubbing behind the toilet. Oh I fully believe she was.. But then that got me thinking about Mary putting out a book on raising Jesus. I just started laughing at myself. I'm scrubbing pee off my bathroom floor and thinking about Mary writing a book about Jesus growing up. Did she come across some of the same things EVERY mother talks about. Oh I believe she did.. But wouldn't that be a great book to read!! Anyways.. just a random thought I wanted to post, because I thought it was so funny.

I love decorating cakes

Just by chance I heard of this cake decorating class they have at Michael's from a facebook friend of mine (co-worker's wife). I was very interested because I have always wanted to know how to do something fancy with a cake. Can I tell you it is so much fun. I love doing it! The best part is I'm not the one eating it. My first cake I made (in the picture) was brought to work for my Fun Committee to enjoy. They loved it. I made another cake just like that for Easter and we brought some home, but it is now gone. Tonight I am going to class again and we are bringing cupcakes. We have learned a few different techniques so far. I have learned how to make wonderful icing, and how it makes a world of difference what consistency you are working with. I never liked writing on cakes, but now I do. It is super easy. I love thinking of the many possibilites you can do on a cake. Tonight we are learning how to make the roses. That will be fun. But we are also learning how to make clowns out of frosting and sweet peas, and a shell border. Wait till you see our final project. I am super nervous because it is crazy. After this course I want to continue on with the three other courses they have. However the next course is wedding cakes, and in all honesty, I really don't want to learn that, but we will see.

Oh by the way.. My favorite thing to make so far are leaves!! They are so fun!

Easter

I really think I need to keep a notebook with me at all times. Otherwise I forget all the things the boys will say to me. Owen is really into this talking back stage.. For me it is a little fun, but there are some days I don't want to hear it. Like I am really proud of him for standing up to certain things he believes in (when he thinks he is right) but it gets to be a little too much when he is just going off to go off! But on Sunday Owen, Logan and I went to church (at St Mary's). The night before I was explaining to them what Easter was all about (aka what happened to Jesus). So I kind of explained the story about Jesus walking through town with his cross and then how he got hung on the cross, and then getting put in the tomb, and finally rising. So we walk to church. Of course it is completely full and the only place they can sit us is in the front, where the choir sits. So picture this. We are basically sitting right in front of the piano and microphone while looking out to everyone in the church. YEAH!! So we sit down and church starts. This man keeps walking around (didn't' know who he was or what he was doing). Logan turns to me and asks "Is that Jesus?" I told him no, and that he had to be quiet because of the microphone in front of us. Then church goes on. Logan is so into it. He is really listening, Owen was pouting a little bit, but doing pretty good. I got up for communion (I know I spelled that wrong) and I came back and Logan says "What did you get?" Like it was a big surprise or a toy that the priest was giving everyone. It was so funny.. I told him that I got a piece of bread. Of course he immediately says "I want a piece!". I told him no, and then said that Owen will be able to do that next year. And of course Owen flips out because he doesn't want any part of that bread. So Logan, once again, says "OH Owen, it's ok.. it's just bread, you like bread". It was just too much and too funny. Overall, it was fun to go with them and see that they are so well behaved. Logan was really listening which just shocked the crap out of me. I think it really helped when I told the story first, so they knew what was going on. Logan did want to know why Jesus was still on the cross. I told him that it was just a statue. Too funny!!

I had to pick up 4 perscriptions for myself yesterday!

Honestly, I think that is the most I have ever had to pick up at once. I went to the doctor yesterday because I was getting more spots (what I thought look like Chicken Pox). I think this doctor thought I was nuts. It was great! So I had the first two dots, right? Well then I had some on my back and then under my boobs and now on my legs. REALLY WEIRD! So it freaked me out. First off the doctor yells at me for being off my Thyroid pills.. So she refilled that without even testing me. Then she starts looking at my spots. She has no idea what they could be. She keeps looking at them and she decides to just start treating me with a couple of different things. All of a sudden I have pills and creams that I need to take for 10 days. But she said that if they don't start clearing up by next week, or I start to get more I will need to come in so they can take a sample of on and get it looked at.. How crazy is that.. I told her that I called the nurse line and the nurse kept saying that it may be shingles, and I kept telling the nurse that I have had shingles and I know what that looks like.. this is not shingles. The doctor starts laughing and says, "That is not shingles". So who knows. I am really hoping it just goes away with all this crap she gave me.

America's Funniest Videos (AFV)

This is Owen's new favorite show. If you are ever down in the dumps just listen to Owen watch AFV. He cracks up so much you can't help but smile or laugh with him. I mean his laugh is the biggest belly laugh you can imagine coming out of him. It is so funny. I have now tried to make an effort to remember that AFV is on Sunday nights so Owen can sit down and have a good laugh. Last night Owen and Ryan were sitting there laughing together.. It was a pretty good sound to be listening to.

Crazy Hair Boy

Saturady afternoon I got a phone call. It was a dad of one of Owen's classmates. This boy Nicholas wanted Owen to go bowling with him. So we said that was fine, Owen wanted to go. After I got off the phone I asked Owen who Nicholas was (because I never heard about Nicholas). He says "Well, he has crazy hair." Nothing else. So I bring up pictures of Owen's class on the computer and I have Owen pick him out. Logan was with us and as soon as Owen picked out Nicholas Logan says "Yep, he has crazy hair."

Can you see me in Singapore?

The oppurtunity is awesome, but really, me in Singapore?? Oh boy.. So I had a great talk with two different co-workers at two different times. Last night I guess there was a meeting and my name got brought up. These two managers were basically fight over me (and they are not even my boss). My name was brought up in this context "Jessica is the only one that knows how to build these computers and she can save the company money if we send her out to rebuild them." How frickin crazy is that!!?? So here is my issue. Do I take it?? I want to, but I am SOOOO nervous working in front of the customer and working in a bunny suit. The other thing is the plane ride! OH MY GOODNESS!! They are saying I will be in the air longer then I will actaully be in Singapore. I would have to be drugged!! And going by myself! AHHHHH.. But I can't pass this up.. I may never be somewhere like that ever again.. I am not worried about the boys because I know Ryan would tell me to go. It makes me feel good that other departments are seeing me and what I do and appreciate it.
